The Legend of the Willow Pattern Plate

Long ago there lived powerful, rich mandarin. He had a beautiful daughter who fell in love with a servant of the mandarin. He was furious. The servant’s name was Chang and the daughter’s name was Koong-se.
The mandarin built a fence around his castle. One day Chang made a desperate escape with Koong-se by getting disguised as a servant. When the mandarin found out that they had escaped he chased them with a strong and hard whip for he wanted Koong-se to marry a rich Duke. On the wedding day, the Duke came but Koong-se and Chang had got to an island with the Duke’s jewels. The Duke hated Chang and was hungry for revenge. So one day the Duke went sailing around their island and saw their hut! He sent a pack of soldiers and hey sent them to death. The Gods took pity on them and turned them into doves.
